Abstract
Disclosure information about the suspect is the case with a variety of reports
in the media had cornered the suspect that violate the presumption of innocence. This
happens because of news that leads to judgment by the media so that the lead public
opinion. Publications suspect a lot going on in the media both locally and nationally.
The purpose of this study were: (1) to identify trends in the news media alleged
corruption, (2) to determine the violation of the presumption of innocence in the mass
media against corruption suspects, and (3) to determine the impact of violations of the
presumption of innocence in the mass media against the suspect..
This research is a socio-juridical. This study focused on news and publication
of suspects dibertakan corruption in the media. Materials used in this study is the
primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. Data collected through library
research and field research. Activity in the processing and presentation of data
comprising the steps of data reduction, data display, and conclusion.
The results showed that the tendency of the mass media lead public opinion.
This is done by the mass media by providing interpretations of cases of corruption.
Society would be difficult to find a denial of ethical discovery the truth by their own
representation when faced with reporting suspected cases of corruption reported by
the mass media. There are some reports that violate the presumption of innocence.
The violations occurred when the media give an opinion and an opinion related to the
facts that happened in the news regarding a suspect in a corruption case. Violation of
the presumption of innocence in reporting suspected corruption in the mass media
impact on graft suspect and the family. The suspect there is not even trusted by his
own family. However, this does not happen in all cases. There is also a suspect who
had the full support of the family or the community.
