Hubungan Antara Empati Dan Pemaafan Pada Mahasiswa Universitas Swasta Islam Di Yogyakarta
Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to understand the relationship between
empathy and forgiveness at Student of Islamic Private Universities in Yogyakarta.
The hypothesis of this study are there is a negative relationship between empathy
with TRIM R and TRIM A, and there is a positive relationship between empathy
and TRIM B at student of Islamic Private Universities in Yogyakarta. The higher
levels of empathy at the student, they less avoidant and revenge, in the other way
the higher levels of empathy at the student, they more benevolence. To test the
hypothesis, the author measure the empathy level by used Interpersonal Reactivity
Index Scale (IRI) which is refer to the theory of Davis (1980) and measure the
forgiveness level by used Transgression Related Inventory Motivation (TRIM)
which is refer to the theory of McCullough (2006). Both of scale alloted around
265 student of Islamic Private Universities in Yogyakarta which is male and
female with aged 17 to 26 years old. The presents results showed that there was
positive relationship between empathy with TRIM R and TRIM A with r = 0.000
and p = 0.000 (p <0.05). The hypothesis of the present study was rejected. There
was positive relationship between empathy and TRIM B with r = 0.295 and p =
0.087. The hypothesis of the present study was accepted
