MAKNA KERJA BAGI BARISTA

Abstract

Barista Proffesion is the most being discussed nowadays. Barista has a great responsibility in coffee industry because barista is dealing directly with customers. Each barista has their own point of view about the response towards their passion in work.The purpose of this research is to know the meaning of work for barista. The research was conducted using qualitative methods with nine interviewees from seven coffee shops in four different cities. Four cities are in Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Bogor, and Semarang. The process of data collection is done using interview techniques and observation of participation. The results of this research refers to the profession means to them rather than just looking for salary. There is another meaning which makes them endure being a barista, they can gain opportunity to learn about coffee and can obtain support to develop their improvement. Being a barista is not desire since childhood, but after through the time there is a sense of comfort that makes a barista remains with their passionate profession from the interaction with customer and people with same pleasure in coffee.
