dc.description.abstractThis research intended to describe news framing towards chinese ethnic on kompas.com, tempo.co, and republika.co.id in January – February 2016. The existence of Chinese ethnic in Indonesia is still facing lots of problems. Chinese ethnic who still included in the minority always get discrimination. Until now, their life always receive different perspective from society. Looking from the history, Chinese ethnic are classified as immigrant but trying to be part of Indonesia. The phenomenon related to Chinese ethnic also include in the media spotlight to be created as interesting news. Kompas.com, tempo.co and republika.co.id are national online media who also create news about them. Those media have their own ideology on creating their news. This research is using constructivism paradigm with qualitative approach. Analysis method that been used is framing analysis from Robert N. Entman that has four instrument to formulate the news framing, they were; define problem, diagnose causes, make moral judgement, and treatment recommendation. This research is using two theories, they were the construction on reporting and reporting characteristic on online journalistic. There were 15 news that been analyzed in this research. The result of this research shows that the news framing by kompas.com, tempo.co, and republika.co.id regarding to Chinese ethnic of each media tend to use their own ideology. The reporting on kompas.com tends to side the chinese ethnic with positive image. Moreover kompas.com using diversity values on their reporting. The reporting on tempo.co tends to frame the news with showing value of pluralism, democracy, national development and harmony among people. However on figure of Ahok, the reporting on tempo.co looks describing Ahok‟s attitude that not supporting Chinese lunar new year. On republika.co.id tends to use Islamic values on their reporting about Chinese ethnic.en_US
