dc.description.abstractThis study titled as "Women and Science: The Yellow Light on The Ivory Tower" (Case Study Motivation for Professional Educators at Science and Technology Islamic University of Indonesia). The purpose of this study are 1) understand women Scientiest‟s background studying science. 2) Understand the Motivation of women Scientists career in the field of Science and Technology. 3) Understand the Achievement of women scientists. 4) Understand Social support obtained by women scientists. 5) Understand problems encountered by women scientists. This research is a qualitative case study approach. This study uses data collection methods such as interviews, observation, and documentation. Speakerin this research is Dr. Fatimah is S.Si,. M.Sc., Izzati Muhimmah ST. M.Sc., Ph.D., Dr. Sri Kusumadewi, S.Si., M.T and Rosa who are lecturer and scientist at the Islamic University of Indonesia, each from the Faculty of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering, two of them from the science of Chemistry and Statistics, 2 others of Informatics. Location of the study was conducted in Yogyakarta, precisely in the scope of Islamic universities in Indonesia. Data test Method uses triangulation Whereas data analysis method uses reduction data, Display data, and conclusion drawing / verification. The results shown that women scientists studying Science because of interest comes from internal factors and role of the environment that come from external factors. Motivation factors are Achievement and Affiliation, other motivating factors are motivation factors by Herzberg, and Valence by Vroom and Reinforcement by Skinner. Achievements are Excellent based on three categories: fungtional, Structural, and Area, peakers awarded from the university, national and inernasional related research undertaken. The problems are: role conflict (time, behaviour chenges and strain conflict), several reported gender discrimination and marginalization because unmarried status and Fear of Success tendency: loss of cooking skills and the risk of not having friends.en_US
