dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-esteem and smartphone addiction in adolescents SMA 1 Muhammadiyah Prambanan Sleman. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a positive relationship between self-esteem adolescent and smartphone addiction behavior, where the higher self-esteem adolescent the higher smartphone addiction, and conversely the lower the self-esteem adolescent will get low smartphone addiction behavior. Respondents in this study were 160 high school students 1 Muhammadiyah Prambanan Sleman. Sampling was done by using purposive sampling technique. This study uses a scale created by the researcher, based on a perception scale explanation of aspects of self-esteem by Coopersmith (2000), and smartphone addiction based on aspects of Kwon (2013). A statistical technique used to test the hypothesis was Spearman product moment correlation technique. The results showed that no significant positive relationship between self-esteem and smartphone addiction adolescents in SMA 1 Muhammadiyah Prambanan Sleman {r = -0.000, p = 0.322 (p> 0.01) in}, this hypothesis is not accepteden_US
