DESAIN PAPAN PERMAINAN KANSEI UNTUK MEMOTIVASI SISWA SD DALAM BELAJAR BAHASA INGGRIS
Abstract
English is one of the international languages which are used to communicate by the nations in the world. This reality encourages people to be able speaking in English as well as writing and reading well. In Indonesia, this language is a strange language with the result that the ability of English for Indonesians is still poor. Thus it is significance to teach this language since the elementary school. But, at this time the methods of teaching and learning process in the school has not been able to produce the quality of mastery of English language expected. Even many students are not still interested to learn. It was showed with 64% of students is still below standard in score and 67% of students are not motivated to study hard. Objective of this study is to develop the Kansei board game to improve student’s motivation in learning English effectively. Kansei Engineering Type 1 is used as a method to determine some specification design of the board game based on user’s feelings and emotions. Survey was performed to identify the words of kansei and statistical analysis is also conducted to test the hypotheses to validate the proposed design. The results of this study showed that the method for teaching and learning process by using the Kansei board games developed is valid to meet user criteria and can increase motivation for students in learning English.
