Analisis Daya Saing Ekspor Kakao Indonesia
Abstract
Cocoa is one of Indonesia's leading export commodities with adequate labor and
land area, Indonesia is the third largest cocoa producer in the world after Ivory
Coast and Ghana. However, Indonesia’s cocoa exports are still dominated by raw
cocoa beans without any fermentation, while to improve the cocoa beans selling
price must pass through the fermentation stage. The government should give more
attention to agricultural commodities to increase the agricultural productivity,
because agriculture is the mainstay sub-sector that give big contributios to the
country's foreign exchange. It is expected that the competitiveness of Indonesian
cocoa will continue to increase every year. In 2012 until 2016, Indonesia has the
strength of competitiveness and comparative advantages in cocoa commodities,
evidenced by the calculation of Revealed Competitive Advantage (RCA) method
that has a value greater than 1 and enhanced by Revealed Symmetric
Comparative Advantage (RSCA) method that is more value large from 0. To
encourage added value to cocoa exports, the government needs to improve
infrastructure and national cocoa research and development, and subsidize
farmers to improve the quality and quality of cocoa.
