The process of risk selection is an important element in the insurance company, because it will impact on the profit received by the insurance company. The process of risk selection must be done with a rigorous and thorough. Otherwise the insurance company will incur losse The purpose of this thesis is to know the process of risk selection on individual life insurance customers, to know what are the constraints encountered in the selection process of risk to prospective insurance participants, and to know whether the selection of risk to individual life insurance customers in PT. Asuransi Jiwa Syariah AJB Bumiputera 1912 Yogyakarta has been optimal or not. The type of research used is descriptive, with a qualitative approach. Primary data used in the form of data in the form of company profile, as well as the results of personal interviews with resource persons. Secondary data is sourced from previous books, websites, journals and research and other sources. The conclusion of this research briefly is: (1) stage of risk selection activity at PT. Asuransi Jiwa Syariah AJB Bumiputera 1912 Yogyakarta is; Field underwriting, supervision observation, data entry and data selection and ending with underwriting decisions (2) obstacles encountered by underwriters in the risk selection process are incomplete submissions of life insurance requests and prior coverage of coverage. While the solution or alternative is done underwriter is required to be careful in receiving and entering data sent by the agent. (3) The underwriting process has been running optimally, because there is never a claim of death due to moral hazard is not good. Implementation of sharia principles applied in the process of underwriting on sharia life insurance as a process of corporate control in risk management activities of PT. Asuransi Jiwa Syariah AJB Bumipuera 1912 makes optimal underwriting.
