    Abstract
    Tourism sector development in Pekanbaru is growing rapidly, despite lack of facility and infrastructure for tourist needs, which one of them is culinary and souvenir typical of Malay. In other hand, since it is located at historical district in Pekanbaru, it needs Malay architectural features to strengthen the identity of its district. Thereafter, the problem is how to design typical of Malay culinary and souvenir center by applying Architecture of Traditional Malay The method used to design typical of Malay culinary and souvenir center building is applying basic form of Traditional Malay Architecture. Elements which influence the design are floor plan, roof form, wall, door, window, floor, pile, stair, foot plat, and typical of Riau Malay ornaments. The elements will be applied on the building form, so that it will show the identity of traditional Malay architecture and introduce traditional Malay architecture to all of tourists. The result of this design is a building which its floor plan, roof form, walls, doors, windows, floors, piles, stairs, and foot plats, also its ornaments are Traditional Riau-Malay Architecture. The floor plan is designed lengthwise of the site following view of ravines. The roof form is designed by applying layar roof. The walls are designed using wooden materials. Either the doors or the windows are designed using wooden materials with Malay engraving and each of them has two leaves. The floors are designed using wooden materials and arranged in parallel. Spherical form with Malay engraving is applied on the piles. The stairs are positioned in front door and headed the way with uneven steps. And for the foot plats, they were designed spherical and 10 cm thick.
