    Abstract
    Automation is the replacement of human labor with machines that automatically perform and organize work, so no longer need human supervision. Broadly speaking, automation provides benefits for manufacturers because of the decrease impact on the cost of production. This is in line with the principle of kaizen applied by PT. Yamaha Indonesia. One of the processes that made possible the automation is the process coak Cabinet Side Base. Cabinet or the workpiece Side Base is part piano UP Right models issued by PT. Yamaha Indonesia. There are several models of cabinet Side Base thinking about the variations in size, so it takes a flexible automated machinery. Previous condition still required of operators, which will be replaced working process engine that has been modified. The main components in the engine modifications, among others, Programmable Logic Control (PLC), Air Cylinder, and stepper motors. Components that have been mentioned, in-assemby into one piece with the machine coak Side Base for flexible machining of some size variation cabinet Side Base. The results of this research have been applied and the companies have felt the benefits.
