Speaking Problems of Tourist Guides at Prambanan Temple

Abstract

The focus of this paper was to observe and to report the speaking problems of tourist guides at Prambanan Temple. The writer presented some theories from the book and internet to support the observation and interview procesess. The writer also conducted observations and interviews to gather data related to speaking problems of tourist guides at Prambanan Temple. During the observations and interview activities, the writer found some speaking problems of tourist guides at Prambanan Temple such as problems with grammar, pronounciation and vocabulary. Many tips or solutions were proposed by the tourist guides. To avoid problems in pronunciation, they explained a concept in other sentences or describe in other words. Grammar problems such as irregular verbs could be overcome by doing some practices. In addition, problems of vocabulary could be solved by reading books and memorizing the words as much as possible. The most effective way to improve the tourist guides is daily practices.
