Hubungan Optimisme Dengan Depresi Pada Orang Lanjut Usia
Abstract
This study aims to find the relationship between optimism and depression in the
elderly. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a negative relationship
between optimism and depression in the elderly. The subjects of this study were
66 elderly people in Lubuk Linggau City. The measuring instrument used in this
study is the optimism scale (Life Orientation Test-Revised) by Scheier & Carver
(1985) in the study conducted by Simanjuntak (2011) and the depression scale
(Geriatric Depression Scale) developed by Adams (2001) in the research that
conducted by Mutiara (2016). The results showed a negative relationship between
optimism and depression in the elderly (r = -0.703; p = 0.000).
