Metacognitive Awareness Of University Student: A Survey Study
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the student metacognitive awareness in english language education department in islamic private university. The population of this research is 90 students from batch 2017. In order to accomplish the objective, this study used quantitative research in the form of survey study. The original questionnaire used in this study is from
schraw and dennison (1994), which consists 52 statements. Data analysis of this study describes metacognitive awareness employed by university students in english language education department batch 2017 in islamic private university. The data were classified into metacognitive awareness inventory from schraw and dennison (1994): monitoring (x ̅ =3.91), declarative knowledge (x ̅ =3.87), procedural knowledge (3.99), conditional knowledge (x ̅ =3.81), planning
(x ̅ =4.02), information management strategies (x ̅ =3.88), debugging strategies (x ̅ =3.83), evaluation (x ̅ =3.85), The findings of the study show planning is the most
frequently used strategies (x ̅ =4.02), while the lowest strategies are conditional knowledge (x ̅ =3.81), It indicates that the students make more strategies for efficient results.
