PENGARUH KESEHATAN MENTAL TERHADAP PENCAPAIAN AKADEMIK MAHASISWA TAHUN PERTAMA FK UII
Abstract
Background: Education in the medical school is closely related to an environment full of stress-induced conditions. This triggered many disturbances in students' mental health. Depression, anxiety and stress are mental health disorders that often occur in medical students. First year students have more stressors because there are many stages of adaptation that must be done by first year students. Changes in mental health have an impact on medical students both in social life and in academic achievement.
Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of mental health on academic achievement of first year students of Medical Faculty UII.
Method: This is a cross sectional study. The subject of this research is the first year of medical students of FK UII with total sampling method. The data obtained were analyzed by multiple linear regression test.
Results: In this study, depression, anxiety, and stress did not significantly affect the GPA. The result of regression test showed that equation of GPA = 2926 - 0.49 * (Depression) + 0.053 * (Anxiety) - 0.135 * (Stress) with R2 value indicating that only 1.7% change of GPA is affected by mental health change depression, anxiety and stress
Conclusion: Depression of anxiety and stress does not affect the academic achievement of first year students of FK UII
