    Abstract
The problems of energy crisis and global warming are urgent for energy saving efforts to avoid further adverse impacts in the future. One effort that can be done is through the development of the concept of sustainable architecture that is responsive and aware of the limitations of energy. Efforts to conserve energy are considered very important because visible in the use of energy globally, the building sector absorbs enormous amount of energy that is around 50% -70% of the overall world energy needs. Fifty percent of energy use in buildings is spent to generate thermal comfort in the room. So special attention is needed especially when starting the design of the building so that the building does not have to use air conditioning (AC) in order to create thermal comfort space. One aspect that greatly influences the high temperature of the room is the building envelope. Through experimental method, OTTV testing was done on the design of Mr. Yuli’s residential in Pemalang. From the test results found that the OTTV results on the overall orientation of building envelope is below the standard of 19.86 W / m² of standard SNI 45 W / m². In this case, the building design envelope meets the criteria of energy conservation because it is not necessary to use air conditioning systems. Factors affecting OTTV are WWR, material type, building color and eider / oversteck.
