    Abstract
In the Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI), Prototype is the first physical form of an object planned in a single production process, representing the shape and dimension of the object which represented and be used for further research and development objects. The term of Prototype itself has many various fields, although until now the term of prototype is more inherent with the technology and informatics field. In the architecture, there are not many authors found interesting explanations in describing in detail the terms of prototype and its role irrespective of the time limited in the preparation of this paper. Writing from Floyd (1990) in the journal "Architectural Prototyping: An Approach for Grounding Architectural Design and Learning" which is enough to provide us in this script. In his writing, Prototype defined the product used as a learning vehicle in providing a more precise idea of what the target of the system in accordance with the intent and purpose of the design. That statement means that the prototype gives the ease of solving design needs in the number or scale from medium till large scale, indeed, it must supported by the completeness of the data and the accuracy of the analysis as the basis of design. Furthermore, prototypes not only help to solve the needs of the design from middle till large scale, but also can give the impression in certain level which can be an identity of a place or region. This is the basic thinking in the case study on the Prototipe Gedung Kantor Kelurahan design in Ngawi, East Java, in this script. The writer hopes that this script can increase the insight of similar designs, especially in Indonesia, for the better in the future.
