Femicide is the most extreme form of gender-based violence, yet it remains unrecognized as a specific crime in Indonesia‟s legal system. This legal gap hinders justice and reflects the state's failure to protect women from systemic violence. This research argues for the urgent need to criminalize femicide in Indonesia, supported by philosophical, sociological, and juridical foundations. By referring to Brazil‟s legal approach through Law No. 13,104/2015, this study offers recommendations for legal reform to strengthen gender-sensitive protections. Recognizing femicide as a distinct crime is essential to ensure justice for victims and affirm the state's commitment to eliminating discrimination against women.en_US
