INFLUENCE OF WORKER’S OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH KNOWLEDGE TO INCREASE WORK SAFETY IN PT. GANDING TOOLSINDO

Abstract

Occupational, Safety and Health knowledge is very important to increase worker awareness toward work safety. Dinas Tenaga Kerja Kota Samarinda stated, 40% case of work accidents in 2014 happened because of unwary workers. This study presents identification the influence of Occupational, Safety and Health knowledge to increasing work safety. Chi-Square method is used to search the influence based on questionnaire data. Twelve indicators are used to discover the problem. Occupational Safety and Health knowledge and work accident prevention significance score is 0.039 < 0.05. Human Resource Management and work accident score is 0.031 < 0.05. Occupational Safety and Health knowledge and Human Resource Management score is 0.000 < 0.05. Age and Occupational Safety and Health knowledge score is 0.014 < 0.05. Ages and work accident prevention score is 0.000 < 0.05. Age and Human Resource Management score is 0.002 < 0.05. Prior education and OSH knowledge score is 0.001 < 0.05. Prior education and work accident prevention score is 0.023 < 0.05. Prior education and Human Resources Management score is 0.000 < 0.05. Work period and OSH Knowledge score is 0.004 < 0.05. Work period and work accident prevention score is 0.007 < 0.05. Work period and Human Resource Management score is 0.006 < 0.05. The significance score from Chi-Square is < 0.05, this means there is an influence of worker’s OSH knowledge to increasing work safety. PT. Ganding Toolsindo already have a good OSH knowledge, high prevention of work accident and good human resources management.
