| dc.description.abstract | This study aims to identify listening comprehension problems experienced by
EFL students in English Medium Instruction (EMI) classes at Universitas Islam
Indonesia. Referring to (Anderson, 1995; Goh, 2000; Vandergrift, 2003) cognitive
framework, this study focuses on three main aspects: perception, decoding, and
utilization. Data were obtained from 84 students through questionnaires and analyzed
descriptively using SPSS. The results showed that the greatest difficulty was in the
perception aspect (M: 2.86, SD: .975), especially in understanding native speakers'
accents and speaking speed. Parsing difficulties (M: 2.76, SD: .983) are related to
vocabulary comprehension, while in the utilization aspect (M: 2.69, SD: .909), students
experience problems in capturing the structure and main idea of the discourse. These
findings show the importance of listening teaching strategies that are tailored to the
needs of students in the EMI context. | en_US |
