| dc.description.abstract | This research aims to find out about consumer protection in the sale and
purchase of modified parts. The increasing trend of motorcycle modifications in
Yogyakarta has raised significant concerns regarding consumer protection,
particularly in ensuring the quality and safety of modified motorcycle parts. Many
consumers, driven by aesthetic and performance preferences, purchase aftermarket
parts without adequate knowledge of their legal rights, product safety standards,
and potential risks. The method that used in this research is empirical with primary
data from interviews with sources supported by using primary and secondary legal
materials. This research examines the legal protection of consumers' rights to safety
in the sale and purchase of modified motorcycle parts, with a focus on the
responsibilities of business actors in complying with Law No. 8/1999 on Consumer
Protection (UUPK), and Law No. 22/2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation.
many business actors prioritize profits over consumer safety, thus not providing
proper product guarantees and clear information. This result of this research show
the need for increased regulatory enforcement, stricter supervision of aftermarket
motorcycle parts sales, and improved consumer education on safety standards.
Strengthening these aspects will help ensure that modified motorcycle parts comply
with safety regulations, thereby minimizing risks, protecting consumer rights, and
improving road safety in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas. | en_US |
