dc.description.abstractThe 2006 Yogyakarta Earthquake has caused masonry walls of some non-engineered buildings damaged and collapsed resulting many casualties and lost of lives. In order to resist earthquake loads, the wall component should be sufficiently strengthened eventhough it provides less strength contribution to the structure. The purpose of this research was to determine the characteristics of interlocking-brick wall. To achieve this research objective, an experimental test was undertaken to investigate units of interlocking-brick and masonry wall, respectively. For the masonry wall test, it was used two different types of wall instralation, i.e., A and B. Having these two instalations, it was expected to produce the wall performance much better than ordinary for practical recommendation purposes. The test was focused on their characteristic of specimens, such as their compressive strength of interlocking-brick and masonry wall units, the shear strength and modulus elasticity of masonry wall unit. The ASTM (E519-02) standard was refered in the diagonal shear tests of masonry wall. The result show that the average compressive strength of interlocking-brick is 12,74 MPa. Whilst, the average compressive strengths of masonry wall types A and B conprise of 3,06 MPa and 4,12 MPa. In addition, the average modulus of elasticity of masonry walls types A and B are 3598,41 MPa and 4121,11 MPa, respectively. The average diagonal shear strength of masonry walls types A and B are 0,19 MPa and MPa, respectively Gempa bumi yang terjadi di Yogyakarta tahun 2006 lalu menyebabkan keruntuhan dan kerusakan pada bangunan terutama dinding pasangan rumah tinggal sederhana, sehingga menimbulkan banyak korban jiwa. Agar bangunan dapat menahan beban gempa, komponen dinding perlu diperhatikan perkuatannya meskipun kontribusinya terhadap kekuatan tidak terlalu besar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menentukan karakteristik dinding pasangan bata-kait. Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian pada unit bata dan dinding pasangan. Khusus untuk dinding pasangan, pemasangan dilakukan menjadi 2 (dua) cara (tipe A dan B). Dari dua cara pemasangan kait dalam dinding pasangan diharapkan memperoleh kinerja dinding pasangan tersebut yang berbeda, agar dapat digunakan sebagai dasar rekomendasi. Pengujian dilakukan terhadap bata-kait dan dinding pasangan, dengan maksud untuk menentukan kuat tekan unit bata-kait, kuat tekan dinding pasangan, modulus elastisitas dan geser diagonal. Khusus untuk pengujian geser diagonal digunakan standar ASTM E519-02. Hasil pengujian kekuatan rata-rata tekan unit bata-kait sebesar 12,74 MPa. Hasil kekuatan rata-rata tekan dinding pasangan variasi A sebesar 3,60 MPa dan variasi B sebesar 4,12 MPa. Hasil rata-rata modulus elastisitas variasi A sebesar 3598,41 MPa dan variasi B sebesar 4121,11 MPa. Hasil rata-rata geser diagonal variasi A sebesar 0,19 MPa dan variasi B sebesar 0,27 MPa.en_US
