Poverty, and its Determinants in The Banten Province

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of unemployment rates, minimum regional wage (UMR), human development index (HDI), gross domestic product growth (GRDP), and regional government spending on the poverty rates across all regencies and municipalities in the Province of Banten from 2014-2023. The data utilized in this research are secondary data collected from the websites of The Central Bureau of Statistics, and The Directorate General of Fiscal Balance - Ministry of Finance of Republik Indonesia. The panel data covers all the 8 regencies and municipalities in Banten Province throughout the periods of 2014-2023. The statistical tool employed in this research was the Eviews Software. The results show that unemployment rates, and minimum regional wage (UMR) had a positive and significant impact towards poverty rate. Furthermore, human development index (HDI) had a negative and significant impact on poverty rates. Finally, gross regional domestic product growth (GRDP), and regional government spending had insignificant and negative impact on the poverty rates. These findings may serve as a crucial insight for regional governments and policymakers in the process of poverty reduction.
