    Abstract
Sleman is the largest district in Yogyakarta with a large population. The population of Sleman district according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Sleman district in 2016 is 1,167,481 inhabitants. The number of very fantastic population will be closely related to the activities of the community. The mounting activity of course will produce residues of one of the garbage. This is certainly a big problem if it continues to happen. This research took place in Sleman area, where based on Data from Environment Department, there are 224 garbage banks spread evenly in 18 districts in Sleman district. From a number of garbage banks, researchers want to know what emissions are generated from garbage into garbage banks, especially carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), then calculate its potential with US-EPA method. For that, there are some data that writers need to know, namely the composition of garbage, the amount of each waste that enter the garbage bank and the number of existing customers The results of the study can be concluded Greenhouse gas emissions done by US-EPA method (2006). With this method can be determined many emissions of greenhouse gases include emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane emissions (CH4). According to the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions obtained, carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) is 4847.22 MTCO2 / Year, and methane emissions (CH4) is 911.61 MTCH4 / Year. Garbage Bank is not only a role to reduce the effect of greenhouse gases released to the environment, but of course also has an effect to reduce the amount of waste available in the environment. With the garbage bank, the community will be facilitated to utilize also benefit from the waste. With the garbage bank, the percentage of waste reduction calculated is 18.62%, with the amount of waste reduced from the waste bank activities in Sleman District as sample is 578.45 ton / year.
