| dc.description.abstract | D.I. Yogyakarta is one of the tourism destinations, so the waste generated needs to be processed properly. The role of scavengers here is very beneficial in reducing waste. Scavengers are a group of urban communities who make a living by selling waste that can still be recycled to the collectors. The objective of the research is to see the scavengers effort in performing waste management in 4 locations of waste disposal (TPS), which are TPS Purawisata, TPS Serangan, TPS Mandala Krida, and TPS Bumijo. This research was conducted by the method that includes: direct observation, distribution of questionnaires, and interview to scavengers. The sampling method refers to SNI 19-3964-1994. The analysis used in this research is descriptive qualitative by calculating weight and volume of waste income, also the composition of inorganic and organic waste by scavengers. The results of this study obtained the average weight of inorganic waste collection from the four polling stations for 8 consecutive days is 1630,45 kg, with volume is 31,5 m³ and the total percentage of waste is 56,67%. Furthermore, the average weight of organic waste collection by scavengers is 1952,59 kg with volume of waste is 8,42 m³. and the percentage of organic waste composition is 16,8%. | en_US |
