This research aimed to identify the types of lecture hand gestures in a video lecture recording during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data were collected by screenshotting the hand gestures made by the lecture. The data in this study were analyzed through a qualitative content analysis design. Based on the developed categories by Liu et al., (2020), this study found two main types of teacher gestures. The findings show that the habitual and beating gestures were the most frequent gestures that indicate built lecture engagement performed through a video lecture recording. The results also indicate habitual and beating gestures are perceived as the ideal gestures in one way the lecture communicates through a video lecture recording. The characteristics of the lecture hand gestures in this study show as the natural gesture that appears regularly as an attempt to interact with the video viewers and enliven the lecture presence with the students.en_US
