dc.description.abstract | This study explores the strategies encountered by Indonesian university
EFL students in reading academic texts, particularly article journals, upon
completing their thesis projects. Through qualitative analysis, data were collected
via interviews with a female single participant, who has recently got her english
educational degree in one of the universities in central java, Indonesia. Employing
coding as a tool, the study analyzed the interview data, using the construct
originally developed by Mokhtari & Sheorey's (2002). The finding revealed that
the participant faced difficulties comprehending academic texts, including
unfamiliar vocabulary and content complexity. Coping strategies employed by the
participant included guessing meanings, rereading, consulting dictionaries, and
utilizing visual aids like tables and figures. The findings suggest the need for
future research to investigate how educators prepare EFL learners to navigate
academic reading effectively. | en_US |
