This research was conducted in one of the high schools near Mount Puntang Bandung. Several essential problems existed in the teaching and learning process at this school, including the lack of communication between students and teachers, the lack of interaction between students and teachers, and the lack of self-confidence of students therefore, students tended to feel afraid if doing assignments alone and afraid to ask the teacher. To overcome some of these problems, the researcher used a cooperative learning approach during the teaching practice. By applying the five critical elements in cooperative learning (positive interdependence, face-to-face promotive interaction, individual accountability/responsibility, social small group skills, and group processing), the teaching and learning process effectively overcame the problems in this school.en_US
