dc.description.abstract | The use of antibiotics for the treatment of bacterial infections among people in many developing drug-resistance. To cope with this, Jatropha multifida Linn can be used as an alternative for the treatment of bacterial infections because it is known to have the antibacterial ability. Bacterial protease enzyme inhibition by Jatropha multifida Linn is expected to reduce the severity or virulence of a bacterial infection. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity and protease enzyme inhibition assay of extract ethyl acetate stem of Jatropha multifida Linn against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and MRSA. Extraction method with a multilevel soxhletation with solvent n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Antibacterial activity test to see MIC and MBC using microdilution method. Test of enzyme inhibition by the method of the wells in a skim milk-MHA 10% with a view diameter clear zone formed. The results of microdilution MIC and MBC respectively 0.125 mg / 100μL and 0.25 mg / 100μL for Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and MRSA. The presence of the protease enzyme inhibitory activity is indicated by the formation of a clear zone at a concentration of ½ MIC for S. aureus and MRSA | en_US |
