dc.description.abstractThis thesis describes collaborative learning aspect inEnglish material used by eightgrade of SMP N 4 PAKEM. The aim of this research is to ensure that the collaborative learning has been integrated with the teaching material for eight grade students in SMP N 4 PAKEM. This is a descriptive quantitative study which included in quantitative research study. The focus in this research to identfy the characteristics of collaborative learning aspects in every chapter of teaching material two textbook. The characteristics of collaborative learning in English material cover students‟ comprehension, different competency of students and students‟ engagament based on Gokhale (1995), Nunan (1992) and Dooly (2008) theories. In this research, it revealed that students comprehension took place in 40.8 % as the first rank. The second rank covered different competency of students in 34.7 %. And the third rank was the students engagement in collaborative learning which reached 24.7 %. At the end, the rank of collaborative learning above proved that there was a there was an integration between English material and collaborative learning approach.en_US
