Abstract
Designing a library for children is a good innovation as
a place to build a reading culture since childhood. Since
children’s way of learning is different from the adult, the
children’s library has different design characteristics
from the public library. One of the function that need to
be considered is safety space. This aspect is
accomodating children that love fun learning and mostly
respond and move actively while learning. The quality of
safety in the design will be part of the success factor of
the children’s library. The challenge of this design is to
meet the needs of children through design in aspects of
safety and comfort based on the general behaviors of
children aged 6-12 years, such as activeness, high
