Peran Fear Of Missing Out Sebagai Mediator Hubungan Antara Social Media Intensity Dan Kepuasan Hidup Pada Mahasiswa Pengguna Aktif Media Sosial
Abstract
The aim of this research was to find out empirically about the role of fear of
missing out as a mediator in the relationship between social media intensity and
life satisfaction. This study uses a quantitative approach involving research
subjects of 323 male and female social media users aged 18-25 years. This study
uses three scales, namely 1) Satisfaction with Life Scale belonging to Diener, et al
(1985); 2) Fear of Missing Out was measured using the fear of missing out scale
belonging to Przybylski, et al (2013); 3) Social Network Activity Intensity Scale
developed by Li, et al (2016). Data analysis was performed using mediation
analysis through PROCESS version 4.0 for SPSS. The results of this study are that
there is an indirect role or partial mediation of the fear of missing out as mediator
of the relationship between social media intensity and life satisfaction with an
LLCI value of -0.1224 and an ULCI value of -0.0370 and an effect value of 0.0761.
