dc.description.abstractMotivation to learn English is an interesting topic to discuss because motivation plays an important role in learning a second/foreign language. The study aims to determine the level of motivation in learning English at the Department of English Education at a Private University In Yogyakarta. The instrument of the study is a quantitative approach in the form of a survey study of the questionnaire Language Learning Orientation Scale-Intrinsic Motivation, Extrinsic and Amotivation subscale (LLOS-IEA) by Noels et al (2000). 95 students participated in filling out the questionnaire from one cohort 2020. The conclusion of this study is based on research findings and discussions on motivational factors in learning English. This study shows that students majoring in English Education Department from one cohort 2020 have very high motivation, seen from the first highest factor, namely personal/professional motivation, secondly intrinsic motivation, when obligation/avoidance motivation, and the lowest, namely amotivation. So this shows the motivation in learning English is very high so that when students learn English, they are motivated to develop students' personalities. Also, students are motivated because they find new things such as new knowledge, interesting things, and positive things. Then it can be concluded that students are motivated either intrinsically or extrinsically, so the amotivation factor is the lowest because students already know their reasons for learning English.en_US
