Pra Rancangan Pabrik Dimethyl Ether Dengan Proses Dehidrasi Methanol Dengan Kapasitas 90.000 Ton/Tahun
Abstract
The preliminary design of dimethyl ether with 90,000 ton/year capacity
utilizes methanol as raw material to produce dimethyl ether with purity of 99.5%.
The process is dehydration of methanol with silica-alumina catalyst in fixed bed
reactor at 250oC and 13 atmosphere. This plant is a high risk plant because of its
high operation condition (temperature and pressure), another raw material and
product are flammable.
This plant is planned to be built in Bontang, East Kalimantan, It covers
11.174 m2 of land and needs 145 employees. It works continually for 24 hours/day
and 330 days/year. Process unit requires 16.832,4728 ton/year of methanol,
whereas utility unit needs 17.905,9040 kg/hour water for cooling, 1750 kg/hour
water for domestic, 4,074,0901 kg/hour of steam, 294,1532 kg/hour of refrigerant,
799,4183 kW of electricity, 2.304,8672 kg/hour of fuel oil and 500 kg/hour of
pressured air.
The economic evaluation shows Fixed Capital of Rp. 74.630.903.100 =
US$ 7,463,090, Working Capital of Rp. 147.210.257.217 = US$ 14,721,026,
Profit before taxes Rp. 66.347.574.493, Profit after taxes Rp. 33.173.787.247.
Feasibility studies results in Break Even Point (BEP) of 42.68% (BEP required in
Indonesia 40% - 60 %), Shut Down Point (SDP) of 34.95%, and Discounted Cash
Flow Rate of Return (DCFR) of 22.97%. Meanwhile, Return On Investment
Before Taxes (ROIb) of 89% (ROIb required for high risk plant > 44%) and
Return On Investment After Taxes (ROIa) of 44%. along with Pay Out Time
Before Taxes (POTb) of 1.01 years (POTb required for high risk plant < 2 years)
and Pay Out Time After Taxes (POTa) of 1.84 years in a row. Based on this
economic evaluation, it can be concluded that dimethyl ether Plant of 90,000
ton/year is economically feasible.
