Abstract
Ammonium sulfate is made by reacting ammonia and sulfuric acid gas
phase and liquid Slurry Bubble Column reactor (Bubble Reactor). The isothermal
reaction at 106 oC temperature and pressure of 1 atmosphere. Exothermic reaction
that required taking the heat when the reactor cooling jacket fitted using water
cooling medium. Ammonium Sulfate Plant is designed for a capacity of 100.000
tons / year which operated continuously for 330 days a year. Raw materials
required Ammonia has a purity of 99.5% as much as 3312,57 kg / hour, and
Sulfuric Acid with a purity of 98% as much as 9538,43 kg / hour. Reaction
products are separated by using Centrifuge and rotary drier to remove the liquid
content in the product. Results Ammonium Sulfate product with a purity of
99.75% 12594,70 kg / hour, the content of Sulphuric Acid 0.1% as 12,63 kg /
hour, and 0.15% water as much as 18,94 kg / hr.
The factory plans was established in Penajam Paser Utara, East
Kalimantan with a total area of 50.000 m2, and total workforce of 234 people. The
utility takes the form of water by 363.597,63 kg / hour, 3.418,12 kVA electricity,
compressed air as much as 625 kg / hour, fuel as much as 879,90 kg / hour.
For the establishment and operation of this plant needed capital equipment
amounting to Rp 201.386.900.198, working capital of Rp 104.946.765.245,
production costs amounted to Rp 301.723.102.594, general expenses amounted to
111.311.480.455, profit before tax by Rp 81.965.416.952, profit after tax of Rp
40.982.708.476, Return On Investment (ROI) before tax is 40,70 %, and ROI after
tax 20,35 %, ,Pay Out Time (POT) before tax of 1,97 years and after tax is 3,29
years, amounted of Break Even Point (BEP) is 44,05 % capacity, and Shut Down
Point (SDP) at 26,18% capacity, and Discounted Cash Flow Rate of Return
(DCFRR) is 27,62 %.
Based on the economic evaluation, the plant Ammonium Sulphate of
Ammonia and Sulfuric Acid with a capacity of 100.000 tons / year is interesting
for further investigation.
