Pengolahan Sampah Tetrapack Menjadi Komposit Dengan Metode Hot Pressing
Abstract
Aseptic packages are made of several laminated layers, including paper, aluminumand
low-density polyethylene. High amounts of non-wood materials and lack of knowledge on the
manufacturing of the package has made recycling aseptic packages an issue for the paper
industry. The demand for high-grade fibers for recycling led paper mills to look for alternative
solutions.
Furthermore, studies on recycling aluminum and low-density polyethylene residuals at
plastic recycling mills were held in Brazil and showed great results for both paper mills and
plastic recyclers.
Cunsumption activities raises the consumption side products such as waste or garbage
which will then be discarded to the environment. If used, recycling of product packaging tetrapak
waste can be optimalized and the economic value of product packaging tetrapak waste can be
increased.
Recycling activities begin from the lowest level until the highest level. The lower level of
recycling performers can be found in a bigger number (31%) compared to the higher level
recycling agent (28%, 17%, 12% and 12%). This condition is caused by the economic situation
that has worsened in several years in recent times. Economic potention consisted in recycling
product packaging tetrapak varies in value. For ”pemulung”, the price rate is about Rp 200,00 -
Rp 500,00/kg. For ”tukang loak” the price rate is about Rp 100,00 - Rp 550,00/kg.
For ”lapak” the price rate is about Rp 100,00 – Rp 600,00/kg, and for ”bandar kecil and
Bandar besar” the price rate is about Rp 150,00 – Rp 650,00/kg. We can conclude that the
economic value in recycling product packaging tetrapak is quite promising. Generally, the
obstruction met by the recycling performers are the low selling price of product packaging
tetrapak waste and the difficulty of finding the waste.
