dc.description.abstractEnglish as a foreign language (EFL) context requires English as the essential language to communicate with people from different countries. It is an obligation for students from the tourism academy to master English, especially in oral performance. However, some of them experienced speaking anxiety that appears as an obstacle in performing English. This research aims to describe the experience of a tourismacademy student’sٌspeakingٌanxiety.ٌTheٌparticipantٌofٌthisٌresearchٌwasٌenrollingٌinٌTourism Management at a private Tourism academy. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The data were collected by online interview and analyzed usingthematic analysis. This research revealed prominent components of speaking anxiety as experienced by the participant which are fear of receiving negative evaluation, apprehension in understanding and build communication with others, also fear of facing the test. Form of speaking anxiety is also discussed in the result based on the participant's perspective. Stutter and nervousness, lack of communication and exposure to English appear as the emergent findings in this study.en_US
