dc.description.abstractThe aim of this research is to describe and investigate critical reading strategies used by students. This research employs a qualitative approach as a research design. This research was conducted in one of private universities in Yogyakarta. The participants of this research were two English Education Department students who have taken Critical Reading Literacy class. The data were collected from interviews as the main source in this research. This research used thematic analysis to analyze the data findings. The findings of this research are levels of analysis, constant questioning, selecting information and particularly highlighting as the main critical reading strategies that used by the students. Furthermore, the critical reading strategies such as highlighting and the way students identify the misinformation help students to increase awareness in order to avoid misinformation that may exist in the articles that they read.en_US
