    Students’ Perceived Experience On The Use Of English As A Medium Of Instruction (EMI) In Junior Highschool In Yogtakarta

    Abstract
    This research investigates students’ experience on the use of English as a Medium of instruction (EMI) in EMI – based science and math classes. Three students participated in this research. The participant voiced their experience by taking the EMI courses on learning math and science subject while using English language as the medium of instruction. A descriptive qualitative method was employed to analyze the participant answer by elaborating the participant explanation and the existing previous similar studies. The findings show that students have several problems in the classroom such (1) communication breakdown, (2) loss of rapport, (3) lack of discussion, and (4) students’ anxiety. The teacher implementing code-switching or practicing code-switching in accordance to students’ challanges in dealing with EMI. The researcher also found that students had the advantages of taking EMI program like acquired English language and develop the students’ self-confidence using English language.
