Preliminary plant design of Styrene from Ethylbenzene is targeting to domestic demand and an export quota. This chemical plant is designed with the capacity 100.000 tons/year. The process will be operated at the temperature 450 C, at the pressure of about 1 atm using catalyst of Shell 105 with total conversion of 40 %. This plant will be built in Cilegon, the province of West Java on the area of 53.930 m2• This plant will be operated for 24 hours/day and 330 days a year with the total employess of 145. Raw material needed are Ethylbenzene of about 21803.6372 kg/hour and total steam of about 19795.4361 kg/hour. This plant requires water as much as 29931.9904 kg/hour. The electricity is supplied by PLN with capacity 183.9824 KW. The economics analysis shows that Break Event Point (BEP) of this chemical plant is 42.23 %, Shut Down Point (SDP) 28.56 %, Return of Invesment after taxes 26.2045% and Pay Out Time (POT) after taxes for about 2.7621 years. Based on the above results it can be concluded that preliminary plant design of Styrene from Ethylbenzene with the production capacity of 100.000 tons/year deserves for further studies.en_US
