    Abstract
Beside of high nutrien food soybeans contain active compounds of medicinal values like isoflavones. Isolation and characterization of isoflavone compound from root of soybean have been carried out. The isolation by extraction method, and TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) have been done. Identification structure of compounds have been carried out by using ultravioletvisible spectrophotometer using shift reagents NaOH, A1C1₃ and NaOAc. The addition of NaOH solution caused bathochromic shift to methanol spectrum about 18 nm, showed existing of 5-OH and 4'-OH group. The addition of AlCl₃ gave bathochromic shift about 8 nm, showed existing of 5-OH group and ketones, and the addition of NaOAc was not gave bathochromic shift, that was not showed existing of 7-OH group, or C7 at A ring in the shape cf glicosides isoflavones. Genistein 7-O-glikocides showed maximum wavelength while at 261 ran, and compound of fraction 1 absorbed at 271.5 nm Datas above have identified that compound in fraction 1 is genistein 7-O-glikosida
