Psikoedukasi How To Life With Special Children Untuk Menurunkan Stres Pengasuhan Dengan Anak Tunagrahita
Abstract
This research aims to study the effects of intervention of psycho-education of how to life with special children on decreasing the parenting stress among the parents that have the mentally disabled child. This research used the experimental design with the untreated control group design with dependent pre-test and post-test. 13 mothers that have mentally disabled child were involved as the participants in this research comprising 7 persons in the experimental group and 6 persons in the control group. The measuring tools used in this research were the Scale of Parenting Stress Index-Short Form (PSI-SF, Indonesia Version, Kurniawan & Scheithauer, 2011, α=0, 82), Parent Child Dysfunctional Interaction Subscale of PSI-SF (PCDI PSI-SF Indonesia Version, Kurniawan & Scheithauer, 2011, α=0, 77). The data analysis used in this research was Friedman. The results showed that psychoeducation of how to life with special children can decrease the level of parenting stress in the experimental group with Chi Square = 11.385 and significance of 0.003 (p < 0, 05). Thus, it can be concluded that psychoeducation of how to life with special children can decrease the level of parenting stress among the parents that have the mentally disabled child.
