    Abstract
Novolac Resin is used as a lacquer, laminating of the material, wood adhesives, varnishes and decoration of wall panels. The needed for novolac resin in Indonesia had increased every year. The capacity of the novolac resin’s factory was 12,000 tons / year, operating for 330 days. The factory was planned to be built in Jombang, East Java with a total of 154 workers. This factor--y founded in 13.991 m2. The reaction of novolac resin formation was an exothermic reaction that occurs in continous continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTR) with an operating condition of 95oC and a pressured of 1 atm. This novolac resin's factory are requires 1195.394 kg / hour phenol raw material, 1039,095 kg / hour formal dehyde and 14.466 kg / hour sulfuric acid catalyst. The utility of novolac resin's factory, need included 4838.485 kg / hour of water, the electricity need 300 Kwh from PL-N and generator, 203.339 kg / hour of diesel fuel, and 41.121 m3 / hour of compressed air. From economic analyzed, the novolac resin factory required a large fixed capital investment of $47,596,038 and a working capital of $15,434,254. Pre-tax profits were $9,691,819 per year, while post-tax profits amount to $7,268,865 per year. This feasibility analyzed given results that “Return On Investment” (ROI) before tax was 20% and after tax was 15%. “Pay Out Time” (POT) before tax was 3,29 years while after tax was 3.96 years. “Break Even Point” (BEP) was 53% capacity, and “Shut Down Point” (SDP) was 30% capacity. “Discounted Cash Flow” (DCF) of 10%. Based on the results of the economic feasibility analysis, the novolac resin's factory was quite interesting to establish.
