Traffic violation at this time is even more alarming. Intersection is one of the critical points of traffic violations that can cause traffic accidents. One of them is Pamungkas intersection (Kaliurang street -Pamungkas street). Therefore, we need a performance analysis in the intersection existing condition at the intersection. The aim of this study was to determine the performance of Pamungkas intersection on the existing condition and to optimize the performance of intersections based on appropriate alternative solutions. This research uses descriptive method which is a method of research that try to illustrate and interpret the object in accordance with what it is. The data obtained from direct observation in the field during the morning, day and night peak hours and then it would be analyzed using the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI) and modeled using VISSIM software. The analysis showed that the Pamungkas intersection is less feasible, it can be seen from the results of MKJI with the degree of saturation is 0,723,the average delay is 84,903 seconds / smp and the level of service is E. While modeling using VISSIM software,it can be obtained that average degree of saturation is 0,928,the average delay is 109,3 sec / veh and service levels is E. Alternative problem solutions that proposed in this research is to change the cycle time and phase as an alternative I and prioritize a public transport as it passes through the intersection as Alternative II. Alternative I with a cycle time is 78 seconds and alternative II with a cycle time is 107 seconds with the phase change by setting the early cut off. the first alternative is using MKJI 1997,the average degree of saturation can be obtained which is 0,729, an average delay is 35,99 seconds / smp and level of service's value is C. While modeling using VISSIM software, the average degree of saturation can be obtained which is 0,754, average delay is 24,927 sec / veh and level of service's value is C. Meanwhile, in the alternative II the average degree of saturation can be obtained which is 0,597, average delay is 37,117 seconds / smp and level of service's value is C. While modeling software using VISSIM, the average degree of saturation is 0,604, average delay is 53,95 sec / veh and level of service's value is a D. It can be concluded from this study that the most excellent alternative solutions are alternative solutions I with a cycle time of 78 seconds and phasing change using an early cut off setting.
