    Abstract
Background : Malaria during pregnancy, also known as Malaria in Pregnancy (MiP), is a health issue that needs to be avoided during pregnancy. MiP has negative impacts on both mother and fetus, including maternal anemia, fetal death, premature birth, intrauterine growth restriction, and low birth weight (<2500 grams or <5.5 pounds). Babies with low birth weight are at risk of long- term neurological disabilities, language development disorders, academic performance problems, and increased risk of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of malaria infection during pregnancy on birth weight of infants as evidenced by low birth weight (LBW) in neonates. Method : The research was conducted using a scoping review study design in accordance with the PRISMA ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses for Scoping Review) protocol, which was systematically assessed based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The article search process was conducted using electronic databases such as PubMed, Portal Garuda, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, utilizing keywords organized according to Boolean Operator rules. Keyword adjustments were made based on the type of database used to obtain relevant article results. Articles that successfully passed the selection process would be extracted and synthesized for further examination at the individual data item level. Result : 9 original research articles were obtained, conducted in malaria- endemic areas. These articles consist of 2 articles in Indonesian and 7 articles in English. Of these 9 articles, 8 of them indicated evidence of the influence of malaria during pregnancy on low birth weight (OR/RR >1, p-value < 0.05), while 1 other article did not indicate evidence of the influence of malaria during pregnancy on low birth weight (p-value > 0.05). Conclusion : Malaria during pregnancy has a significant effect on the incidence of LBW in neonates.
