Rambutan skin is a waste that is not widely utilized by the community. Rambutan skin contains flavonoid compounds that are useful as antioxidants. This study aims to (1) to compare the extraction results of maceration and microwave techniques; (2) to identify the type of flavonoid compound of rambutan skin extract. The stages of the research include preparation of starting material, extraction of rambutan skin using maseration technique for 24 hours and microwave for 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 7 minutes with ethanol 96% -HCl 1% (2:1); qualitative test of phenol compound and flavonoids, identification of flavonoid compound species using shear reactant by UV-Vis spectrophotometer, and identification of ethanol extract of rambutan skin using FTIR. The results of rambutan skin extraction with 24 hours maceration technique obtained 12.85% of yield and microwave technique 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 7 minutes obtained by 1.49%, 3.95%, 7.40% of yield. Respectively the results of qualitative tests showed that rambutan skin extract contains phenol and flavonoid compounds. The result of identification of compound using shear reagent by UV-Vis spectrophotometer showed spectrum shaped shoulder and alleged substitution addition of shear reactant hydroxy group at position C3, C6, C7, and C4 '. The result of identification of FTIR extract compound showed the presence of OH, C=C, C = O, C-H aliphatic and C-O groups. The results of comparative rambutan skin extraction technique showed the highest yield obtained from maceration technique. The result of identification of addition of shear reagent showed the presence of dihydroflavonol type compound and the result of FTIR identification showed characteristic of flavonoid compound. The rambutan skin ethanol extract is suspected to contain dihydroflavonol.en_US
