passing vehicles (weight repetition), and environmental changes. The main factors of damage require the use of materials for asphalt concrete with higher quality in the form of aggregate material as filler or asphalt as binder. In developing and developed countries there are many producers of modified asphalt. Indonesia has several producers of modified asphalt. In this study, modified asphalt types Aspal Starbit E-55 and Aspal Retona Blend E-55 as binders were used to discover the characteristics of Aspal Starbit E-55 and Aspal Retona Blend E-55 as binders in asphalt concrete mixture with dense aggregate and gap aggregate compositions in AC-WC mix based on the specification of Bina Marga 2010. This study was conducted in four stages where the first stage was determining optimum bittumen content (OBC) of four different types of mixture. Second stage was performing standard Marshall and Immersion tests of optimum bittumen content. Third stage was performing Indirect Tensile Strength test. The fourth stage was analyzing and discussing the test results. The study results showed optimum bittumen content in the AC-WC mixture with Aspal Starbit E-55 as replacement binder was 5,89% for dense gradation mixing and 6,11% for gap gradation. In Aspal Retona Blend E-55 mixture it’s 5,86% for dense gradation and 6.17% for gap gradation. The result of the test on Marshall characteristic on optimum bittumen content (OBC) of Aspal Retona Blend E-55 mixture had bigger stability than Aspal Starbit E-55 with the same aggregate gradation. Marshall stability of Aspal Retona Blend E-55 mixture with dense gradation was 2384,1 Kg. While in Starbit E-55 mixture, Marshall Stability was 2322,5 Kg. The difference of both stability values was 5,64%. The comparison between the stability values of both mixtures was quite significant because it’s over 5%. So, a conclusion could be drawn that Aspal Retona Blend E-55 mixture had higher stability. The comparison of declines of values of Index of Retained Strength on each gradation type showed that Aspal Retona Blend E-55 mixture was more sensitive on gradation change during 24 hours submersion test. Dense gradation had a value of 97,42% and gap gradation 90,67%. Aspal Starbit E-55 had a value of 95,08% and 91,97% for gap gradation. Decline of value on Aspal Retona Blend E-55 mixture with gap gradation showed the most significant decline at 9,33%. The results of Indirect Tensile Strength test on dense gradation were 20,2 kg/cm2 for Aspal Retona Blend E-55 mixture and 21,9 kg/cm2. The comparison of the values of Indirect Tensile Strength was 8,59%. The difference showed significant value because it’s over 5%.
