dc.description.abstractNanoparticle is a dispersed formulation of particle in nanometer size. Nanoparticles can be conjugated with supporting molecules such as gold. Biosynthesis of environmentally friendly gold nanoparticles utilizes flavonoid content of the plant as a reducing agent. The of areca nut extract (Areca catechu L.) is a medicinal plant that has not been widely used in Indonesia. This study carried out to determine the best formula for nanoparticle formation of gold nanoparticles of areca nut extract (Areca catechu L.) with an environmentally friendly biosynthetic process and characterization of gold nanoparticles. Method of formulation of gold nanoparticles used in this study is the biosynthesis method which is using areca nut extract (Areca catechu L.) as a reducing agent and a stabilizing agent. Characterization of gold nanoparticles formation was performation was performed using the UV-Vis spectrophotometer, particle size was obtained by PSA, the morphology of gold nanoparticles was obtained by using SEM and TEM, while the functional group of gold nanoparticles was obtained by using FTIR. Result of this study showed that from 40 formula the best formula is formula 20 with areca nut extract cconcentration od 10% (1000 µL areca nut extract, 450 µL HauCl4). The caracteristic of areca nut extract gold nanoparticles produced using eco-friendly biosyntheis process was a clear yellowish color change to pink, an absorption wavalength of 532 nm, a particle size og 287,1 nm, PDI value 0,29, and a round, triangle, and a hexagon morphology.en_US
