Hubungan Antara Keterampilan Interpersonal dengan Loneliness pada Mahasiswa UII Yogyakarta

Abstract

In essence, humans are social creatures. In line with the growth and development, social needs become increasingly complex and diverse. The desire to be close with others, give someone joy, obtain help, to establish intimacy, sharing fun, getting compliments, etc. This research stems from the author such as Supratiknya (2000) and Liliweri (1997) thought that in theory and research results from some social experts found interpersonal communication skills is affected non-social variables, loneliness.

The purpose of this study is to examine: the relationship between interpersonal communication skills on new students of UII Yogyakarta.

The results showed that: there was a significant relationship between interpersonal communication skills with loneliness on students (r=-0.553 with p=0.001 (p<0.01) it's mean the hypothesis was accepted) This shows that the higher interpersonal communication skill the lower the loneliness of a new student UII originating outside the island of Java. The Interpersonal communication skills contribute as much as 30.5% or R square = 0305 on loneliness.
