Transformasi Kompetensi Pustakawan dalam Menghadapi Era Kecerdasan Buatan di Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence is transforming library services and management, affecting librarians' competencies. This research examines the transformation of librarians' competencies in the AI era, focusing on technical and non-technical aspects and competency-strengthening strategies in university libraries. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected via Google Forms questionnaires for librarians. The results show that improved technical competence enhances librarians' use of AI-based technologies, such as service automation, information retrieval, and digital data management. Non-technical aspects require lifelong learning, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, professional ethics, and problem-solving skills. Competency-strengthening strategies include ongoing technical and ethical training on AI, cross-unit collaboration, bolstering librarians' roles as knowledge curators, and creating ethical guidelines for AI use. The transformation of librarians' competencies in the AI era covers not only technical, but also cognitive, social, and ethical dimensions, supported by sustainable institutional strategies. The findings highlight the importance of librarians who adapt and support digital information access.
